Where the Golf Cart Has Its Own Parking Spot

Epoxy Flooring in Ponte Vedra Beach frequently needs to handle a car and a golf cart parked side by side. The PGA Tour is based here, and The Players Championship has been played on the TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course since 1982. In a community built around golf, a cart bay that tracks in turf, sand and fertilizer is a normal part of the garage.

What carts do to a floor

Golf carts are heavy for their size, and their batteries and chargers bring their own risks.

Battery acid from lead-acid packs can etch bare concrete. A chemical-resistant topcoat holds up better.
Narrow tires concentrate weight in a small spot when parked for weeks.
Lawn chemicals and wet clippings stain light, porous surfaces.

Full-broadcast flake sealed under a polyaspartic or urethane top deals with all three. We can also mark out a cart parking area with a contrasting color if you like a tidy layout.

Coastal homes, coastal weather

Wikipedia notes that Ponte Vedra Beach lies wholly east of the Intracoastal Waterway. During Hurricane Irma in 2017, storm surge caused extensive damage to oceanfront properties in Ponte Vedra Beach and nearby Vilano Beach, and some homes became uninhabitable. If your garage has seen surge water, the slab may carry salt and debris deep in its pores. We test and clean before we propose a system.

Finishes for higher-end homes

The average home price was about $898,000 as of April 2024, according to Wikipedia. Many owners here want the garage finished to the same standard as the living spaces. Metallic epoxy creates a flowing, polished look in a climate-controlled garage or a game room. For garages with doors that stay open, we cap it with a UV-stable coat so it does not yellow in the sun.

Mineral sand history

Ponte Vedra began as Mineral City, a mining town that grew after ilmenite, zircon and rutile were found in the beach sands in 1914. Coastal sand under a slab can hold moisture, which is one more reason we measure slab moisture before we coat, even in newer homes.

Homeowner association approvals

Many Ponte Vedra neighborhoods have associations with their own rules for exterior work and contractor access. Interior garage floors are often simple, but driveway coatings and visible areas may need approval. We provide a written scope and color samples so you can check with your association first.

Ponte Vedra Beach Questions

Will golf cart battery acid damage an epoxy floor?

A spill on a properly cured, chemical-resistant topcoat can be wiped up without lasting damage. Bare concrete is far more vulnerable. We suggest a resistant topcoat for any garage where a cart is charged.

Can you install metallic epoxy in a Ponte Vedra garage?

Yes. It suits garages where the door is closed most of the day. If the garage gets direct sun, we add a UV-stable topcoat to keep the color from shifting over time.

My oceanfront garage took on surge water. What happens first?

We inspect the slab, wash it, and test for moisture and contamination. Salt left in the concrete can push up through a coating later, so the floor has to be clean and dry enough before any coating goes down.

Does my HOA have to sign off on a garage floor coating?

Interior work is often allowed without review, but rules vary by neighborhood. We provide a written scope and samples so you can confirm with your association before scheduling.
